We will arrive in Christchurch, the starting point for your New Zealand adventure, where you will check into your cozy accommodations. In the evening, a delightful welcome dinner awaits where you will get to know your fellow travelers and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of the city.

Set off from Christchurch and enjoy the drive through the picturesque Canterbury Plains where the route offers a blend of rolling hills and coastal scenery. Our first stop is Akaroa, a quaint seaside town renowned for its French-inspired architecture and stunning harbor views. Take a leisurely stroll along the charming streets, enjoy a coffee at a local café, and perhaps visit the local artisans and boutiques.

After spending some time in Akaroa, we will get back on the road and head towards Kaikoura. The drive takes us along the scenic Pacific coastline, where the rugged cliffs and crashing waves provide a dramatic backdrop. As we approach Kaikoura, the majestic Southern Alps rise in the distance, creating a stunning contrast against the deep blue of the ocean.

Immerse yourself in the natural wonders of Kaikoura with a day dedicated to its breathtaking wildlife and coastal beauty. We will begin our day with an unforgettable whale-watching tour, where you’ll set sail into the deep blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. Keep your eyes peeled for the majestic sperm whales, which are known to frequent these waters.

Next, head to the local seal colony, where you can observe these playful and curious creatures in their natural habitat. The seals bask on the rocky shores and frolic in the surf, providing endless entertainment and fantastic photo opportunities.

After a day filled with adventure and awe, return to your hotel in Kaikoura to relax and unwind.

As we leave Kaikoura, the road will wind through lush forests and rolling hills, gradually transitioning to the rugged West Coast scenery. Our first major stop is Punakaiki, famous for its Pancake Rocks and blowholes. These unique rock formations, shaped like stacked pancakes, create a mesmerizing spectacle as the waves crash against them, sending sprays of water into the air.

We will then drive to Greymouth, where the coastal road offers dramatic views of the Tasman Sea. The route is lined with native forests, serene rivers, and stunning coastal cliffs. Then, we will lace up our hiking boots and embark on a glacier trek to explore the ice formations up close. Marvel at the shimmering blue ice, jagged cracks, and icy pinnacles that make this glacier a true natural wonder.

Return to your accommodation in the evening and retire for the night after a delectable dinner.

As you leave the glacier behind, the road takes you through a landscape that shifts from alpine to serene lake vistas. The journey begins with lush rainforests and rugged terrain, gradually giving way to the gentle beauty of Lake Wanaka. Here, you’ll encounter a stunning blue lake surrounded by rolling hills and towering mountains, offering a perfect spot for a scenic pause.

After spending some time here, we will continue our drive to Queenstown, following a route that showcases the diverse landscapes of New Zealand’s South Island. The road winds through valleys, alongside rivers, and across high-country plains, each stretch offering its own unique view of the land.

Upon arriving in Queenstown, we will settle into our accommodations.

Take a well-deserved break and enjoy a leisurely day in Queenstown, the adventure capital of New Zealand. With its stunning surroundings and vibrant atmosphere, this is your chance to explore at your own pace.

Wander through the charming town center, where you can find unique shops, delightful cafes, and local eateries. For a more active day, consider exploring nearby attractions like the scenic Arrowtown or the beautiful Glenorchy.

If you prefer to relax, soak in the breathtaking views of Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding mountains. Find a cozy spot by the lake, take a gentle walk along the waterfront, or simply enjoy the serene beauty of this stunning location.

As we head out from Queenstown and head towards Milford Sound, the route takes you through lush rainforests, rugged mountain ranges, and past shimmering lakes. The road winds through the enchanting Fiordland National Park, with every turn offering breathtaking views of the fjord.

Upon reaching Milford Sound, embark on a scenic cruise that reveals the true beauty of this stunning fjord. As you glide through the waters, marvel at the towering cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and pristine landscapes that make Milford Sound one of New Zealand’s most iconic destinations.

After the cruise, begin your return journey to Queenstown to your accommodation where you can unwind after a long driving day.

In the afternoon, we will set out for two of Queenstown’s most exciting attractions. Begin with a ride on the Queenstown Gondola, which offers panoramic views of the town, Lake Wakatipu, and the surrounding mountains. The ascent provides a breathtaking perspective of the landscape, perfect for photos and taking in the scenery.

Next, get your adrenaline pumping with a thrilling jet boat ride in the Shotover Canyon. This high-speed adventure takes you through the dramatic canyons and narrow river passages, delivering an exhilarating experience amid stunning natural beauty.

Return to Queenstown in the evening, with a day full of unforgettable views and exciting activities to reflect on.

Today we will drive from Queenstown to Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest peak. This journey takes you through stunning high-country landscapes, where the scenery transitions from rolling hills to dramatic alpine views. 

As you drive, the road reveals the expansive beauty of the Southern Alps, with snow-capped peaks and picturesque valleys. The drive to Mount Cook is truly breathtaking, with the towering peak coming into view, dominating the landscape.

Arrive in Mount Cook and settle into your accommodations in this serene and majestic location.

Today we will leave the towering peaks of Mount Cook behind and watch as the scenery gradually shifts to open plains and picturesque countryside.

The drive back to Christchurch offers you a final opportunity to appreciate New Zealand’s diverse beauty. Each stretch of the road presents a unique aspect of the country’s varied landscape, making it a truly breathtaking drive.

On your final day, we’ll arrange a convenient transfer to the airport based on your flight times. This allows you to enjoy a smooth and stress-free departure from Christchurch.
