North America
The western hemisphere of the boundless showground that’s USA comes replete with stunning landscapes, incredible wildlife and vibrant urban oases that are as welcoming as they can be. Rich cultural and historical lineage, combined with abundant natural exquisiteness, makes it justly worthwhile to visit this part of America.
Here are a few of the top destinations in the region that deserve your time and attention.
A city that exemplifies the notions of extravagance and grandeur, Las Vegas is a study in splendor. Going by many adages like the ‘Sin City’ and the ‘Entertainment Capital of the World’, this jewel of the state of Nevada beckons you with its stunning stage shows, decadent casinos, magnificent hotels and luxe restaurants.
The sheer range of options available to visitors in Vegas makes it daunting to narrow down and choose the experiences that are best for you. The trick is to do fair amount of research before heading down there, and making a note of all the events planned in the city of glamour during that particular period of time.
Located in the Mojave Desert amidst epic mountainous ranges, Vegas can be much more than just man-made opulence for those who strive to explore it historically and geographically.
Hypnotic and compelling to say the least, Vegas will ensure it leaves you mesmerized yet lusting for more.
A true-blue American landmark, the Hollywood Sign is situated on Mount Lee in the Hollywood Hills area of Santa Monica Mountains, Los Angeles. First set up in the year 1923 as an advertising ploy for a real-estate project called ‘Hollywood land,’ the iconic installation has had its fair share of ups and downs.
Originally not built to last as long as it has, the sign has undergone major deterioration and subsequent restoration over the years with renowned celebrities like Hugh Hefner, Alice Cooper and famous production houses having contributed financially towards the cost of refurbishing it.
The letters stand at a height of 45 ft (13.7 m) each, and are spread over 350 feet (106.7 m) lengthwise. A global icon that pays homage to the land where one’s wildest dreams may materialize; the Hollywood Sign is a must visit attraction for all who seek to enjoy the quintessential American experience.
A destination that has something exciting for every member of your family, the Universal Studios is sure to impress. Situated in the San Fernando Valley area of LA, California, this film studio plus theme park is a lot of attractions wrapped into one delightful bouquet.
First opened to public all the way back in the year 1915 by founder Carl Laemmle, a trip to the Universal Studios offers enthralling Theme Park rides and shows along with a fascinating dekko at a real working movie studio. One can also sample some of Los Angeles’ best retail stores, restaurants and cinemas at City Walk – a specialized dining and shopping arena which was launched in 1993.
Some of the most prominent and popular attractions within include the renowned Studio Tour, the magical Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the delightfully nerve-wrecking Jurassic Park Ride, the multi-sensory DreamWorks Theatre, the forceful King Kong 360 3D experience, and the superbly immersive Walking Dead attraction amidst many more.
The lowest, hottest, and driest national park in all of America, the Death Valley National Park presents a surprisingly vibrant and lively contrast to its haunting moniker. A great diversity of flora and fauna–including Creosote Bush, Bighorn Sheep, Greater Roadrunner, Desert Kit Fox and the Death Valley Pupfish amongst others – have turned the otherwise harsh surroundings of the park into their natural habitat.
Owing to this, the Death Valley was enlisted as the principal feature of UNESCO’s Mojave and Colorado Deserts Biosphere Reserve in the year 1984.
With its towering peaks capped with winter snow, lofty sand dunes, below-sea-level salt flats, enigmatic singing rocks and engravings, vivid canyons and a very rare spectacle involving a sweeping carpet of lush wildflowers; the Death Valley National Park is an experience in extremes – one which cannot be truly described in words that will do justice to its mystical beauty.
