Rise and shine and live your Hollywood dream! Start your day with a hearty breakfast before deciding how you want to spend your day in this “Rose-Red” city. Little is known about Petra’s history. It was the capital city of the Nabataeans from roughly 300 BC to 100 AD. Petra is half-built, half-carved into the rock, and is surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. It is one of the world's most famous archaeological sites, where ancient Eastern traditions blend with Hellenistic architecture. Petra was also named amongst the New7Wonders of the World in 2007 and was chosen by the Smithsonian Magazine as one of the “28 Places to See Before You Die.” Visit the Siq, the Treasury, the Monastery, Street of Facades, Colonnaded Street on a walking tour.
After a relaxed breakfast, we will drive on the Dead Sea Highway to reach the shores of Dead Sea that is hundreds of feet below sea level, making it the lowest point on Earth. We’ll also take a short detour and visit Mount Nebo, the site of Moses’ Tomb. The mountaintop is a popular pilgrimage site, with an excavated fourth-century church, small museum, an olive tree-shaded garden, and views of the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea below. After taking in the panoramic view of the holy land, continue driving on the Dead Sea Highway to reach our hotel and retire for the day.
Sometimes all it takes to reach a new high is to dive low. This holds especially true for the fabled Dead Sea.
