A drive in the extreme cold temperatures in the middle of the Russian Winters is as cold as it can possibly get! If you were curious what the average temperature is for Russian Winter, it’s between -30 and -50 degrees Celsius. You may have heard lots of stories about the brutal Russian Winter, believe us, it is the best time of the year to experience the real beauty of this fascinating country. Not only do you get to witness white forests and fairy tale towns, but you will also get a chance to drive on the glass like surfaces of frozen lakes and rivers that are used for daily commutes by Russian truck drivers during the winter season.

  • 25% of the tour cost will be charged if the tour cancelled any time after confirmation till 31st October 2019
  • 50% of the tour cost will be charged as a cancellation if the tour is cancelled in between 1st November – 30th December 2019
  • 100% of the tour cost will be charged as a cancellation if the tour is cancelled post 31st December 2019

Day 1 (1st February)


Home to the famous Red Square, you will arrive in the beautiful city of Moscow. The city is said to date back eight-and-a half-centuries and has beautiful architecture created over several centuries. You will be directly transferred from the Airport to the Hotel where you can relax before you start discovering Moscow. From Ice skating rinks to ice sculptures and snow parades, there is a lot to see. The city is also home to the world-famous Bolshoi Theatre, for those who prefer more classical entertainment. At the hotel, meet your fellow travellers and remember, you will be hugging these same people when the trip ends, who appear as strangers to you on this day!

Day 2 (2nd February)

Moscow – Sergiev Posad (Driving Distance: 80 km)

Today, you will be introduced to your UAZ Patriot 4×4 vehicle as we start exploring the harsh winter of Russia by road! After getting comfortable with the SUV, we will continue driving on snow-covered roads and reach SergievPosad, also known as the “Russian Vatican”. The city is located amongst picturesque forests on the shore of the large and circular Lake Plescheevo. You will be visiting the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, which is one of the most famous Russian monastery and the spiritual centre of the Russian Orthodox Church. Also, visit the artistic and educational Toy Museum. The only research institute of toys in Russia and probably in the world is situated here in SergievPosad, which is known as the birthplace of the Matryoshka dolls.

Day 3 (3rd February)

Sergiev Posad – Koprino (Driving Distance: 250 km)

Have you gotten accustomed to driving on the slippery, sloppy snow-covered roads? Today you will be driving towards Koprino, which is located on the Rybinskoye Reservoir coast, 40 km from Rybinsk city. On the way, we will drive through several towns of the famous Russian Golden Ring like Uglich and Myshkin. The Golden Ring is a collection of historic Russian cities, northeast of Moscow and is perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy the quiet and peaceful life in the Russian province, beautiful countryside views, and ancient architecture. En route, you will also get a chance to experience ice crossing on the Volga River, which is the longest river in Europe.

Day 04 (4th February)

Koprino (Rest Day / Activity Day)

Don’t be snow-bored! Today embrace the unknown as we have planned a day full of surprises and fun activities. Choose to relax and unwind at the wellness centre or enjoy the great outdoor options. If you are an avid golfer, then enjoy Snow Golf. Trust us, this can be quite an exhilarating and challenging experience.

Not a golf fan? No problem. You can go Skiing or Snowboarding and admire beautiful views.

If you don’t feel like carving the slopes on skis, try sculpting the snow with a Snowcat. Driving a Snowcat is truly one of the most unique experiences you can have in Russia. You can even try your hands at fishing.

End the day with Russian Vodka shots in a makeshift open Ice Bar. The day can’t get any better than this.

Day 05 (5th February)

Koprino – Vologda (Driving Distance: 250 km)

After breakfast, we will head to Vologda, a city in northwest Russia. En-route enjoy some great winter driving experience. Later in the evening, we will visit Vologda Open Air Museum of Architecture and Ethnography. It welcomes you to the world of northern Russian village of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Here you can get the first-hand experience of Russian traditions, attitudes and cultural background. Overnight rest at Vologda.

Day 06 (6th February)

Vologda – Tikhvin (Driving Distance: 430 km)

We will start early today as we have a long way to go. After hot cups of tea/coffee and a scrumptious Russian breakfast, we will start our long drive towards Tikhvin, which stands on the territory of the Volkhov lowland on the Tikhvinka river.

Admire the vast expanses of the Russian land, old wooden houses and the villagers who have chosen a simple measured life, as you drive through the quaint towns.

Day 07 (7th February)

Tikhvin – Karjala Park (Driving Distance – 327 KM)

Post a hearty breakfast, start your drive towards Karjala Park, two hectares of forest and environmental-friendly territory, on which there are eco-hotels, cottages, cafes, gazebo and husky kennels. En route, you may also visit Svyatozero.

According to archaeological finds of stone tools around the village of Svyatozero, the territory was inhabited by people at the end of the third millennium BC. Some ethnographers believe that the first inhabitants were the ancestors of modern Saami.

Day 08 (8th February)

Karjala Park (Rest Day / Activity Day)

If you are a dog lover, then you are in for a treat. Today, get a chance to familiarise yourself with beautiful Siberian Husky breed and a tour of their kennel. Their wolf-like features are hard to miss, and their piercing blue eyes will have you transfixed. Enjoy activities like Husky walks or Husky sledding. You will be able to communicate with these intelligent and affectionate dogs and feed treats to them.

You will also get a short theory course on sledge riding and briefing on safety. Post which you can enjoy the ride as a passenger with an experienced instructor. You can even take a trip on a snowmobile. Enjoy the speed and sparkling snow as you experience the beauty of Karelia flashing by.

Day 09 (9th February)

Karjala Park – Saint Petersburg (Driving Distance – 500 KM)

No talking, just driving, after all, today is the longest driving day of the journey. By the end of the day, you will give yourself a pat on your back on completing 500 Km drive in such extreme conditions. Today we’ll be driving through Staraya Ladoga, which claims to be the first capital of Russia and also see the Staraya Ladoga Fortress. Visiting this soulful old place and wandering around its crumbling ramparts is a unique experience and you might feel you’re in a Tarkovsky film.

Day 10 (10th February)

Saint Petersburg (Rest Day / Sightseeing Day)

We have saved the best for the last! This day is going to be the most exciting day of the entire expedition, and you can take our word for it. Today, you are going to take a ride in the amphibious SHERP ATV. You will have an opportunity to be driven on ice, water and mud for two hours and test this unique vehicle, that has no analogues in the world.

After the adrenalin rush, spend the rest of the day exploring the beautiful city of St. Petersburg. Admire the beautiful architecture, the Church of the Spilt Blood, Hermitage Museum or simply walk down the streets and admire the beautifully decorated bridges, monuments and the buildings that once housed Russia’s nobility. Everything is fascinating in St. Petersburg. No wonder, St Petersburg is rated as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. If you are an art connoisseur, The Hermitage Museum is a must see which is home to more than 3,000,000 pieces of art. The Hermitage is one of the world’s greatest museums, with priceless works by Rembrandt, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Rubens and more.

In the evening, we will get together for a Farewell Dinner! Remember how you shook hands and formally introduced yourself to your fellow participants on Day One? Be rest assured, tonight you will be hugging each other tightly with a promise to keep in touch!

Day 11 (11th February)

Fly Back

The expedition concludes this morning and we fly back home. However, in case you wish to extend your holiday and stay back in St. Petersburg for a few more days, we will be happy to assist you.
